Did The Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe Go Through Foreclosure?

How do I deal with the threat of foreclosure and homelessness? I know we’ve all heard the nursery rhyme, “There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.  She had so many children, she didn’t know what to do.  She gave them some broth without any bread, Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.”

That’s what she did.  But what do you do after experiencing a bad experience like foreclosure?

What do you do when threatened with the loss of a home which represents your stability, wealth and security? What do you do with yourself? What do you do with the children? And should you start living in a shoe?

I know this may sound like a funny question and for years we’ve been amused by the story of the old woman who lived in a shoe.  But if you are at the auction stage and wondering how can you stop foreclosure auction, it may be very relevant.

But the question that lives behind the story is “what do you do when threatened with homelessness?”  Well I think you would want to take action right now today.  I suggest these four simple solutions.

  1. Seek guidance and help – don’t go through a foreclosure alone
  2. Take no more than 30 days to research and make a decision about solving foreclosure.
  3. Get on a strict budget and begin to living within your means
  4. Replace the fear of homelessness or living in a shoe with the thought of solving the foreclosure problem

Before becoming homeless there are numerous choices one has.  Being willing to confront the problem of foreclosure and the possible loss of your home is the first step towards avoiding homelessness.

I suggest that you seek financial counseling and guidance from an expert who understands the foreclosure process and is able to help you deal with it.  Whatever you do don’t attempt to face the painful experience of foreclosure all alone.

There are numerous sources of help available from Home Ownership Preservation and Non Profit Foreclosure Help.  Then of course there is this blog which I am constantly updating and adding more information to every day.  I strongly encourage you to bookmark it and visit often for new and additional information.

Many times there are experts in the field of foreclosure who can help you explore many of the different options available to you.  But you must be courageous enough to pick up the phone and call someone.  Even with today’s vast foreclosure crisis there is help available for those who act quickly and decisively.

They offer valuable programs through their ability to negotiate with the bank or lender.  Some of these strategies include structuring a deed in lieu, foreclosure forbearance and many other loan modification programs.

Many who are facing foreclosure hide from their situation instead of seeking the help that is available within their situation.  Right here on this blog there is a wealth of resources available for anyone who really seeks to develop a viable solution for their problem.

Foreclosure is a time sensitive process.  Many may be wondering how long do I have to stop my foreclosure? Most people who receive notification that the bank or lender has started a foreclosure procedure against them are not in a position to wait around and waste time.

Those who have survived foreclosure have done so by having powerful communication and taking dynamic action.  That requires knowledge and understanding of the foreclosure process and the foreclosure redemption period set for your jurisdiction.

The time you have to save your house may very well vary depending on your jurisdiction.  Many times it depends on the amount of equity remaining in your home.  Sometimes equity simply doesn’t matter.  However I strongly suggest that you develop an action plan that can be accomplished within 30 days.

Honestly the threat of foreclosure for most is a serious wake up call.  It alerts you in a painful way that something in your life is greatly out of balance.  When it comes to family or personal financial problems a good place to start establishing balance in your life is budgeting.

It is amazing how many people who are in foreclosure are either not following a family budget plan or don’t have a family budget plan at all.  Often times this is one reality that makes surviving a foreclosure crisis so challenging sometimes.  You must get a plan for both spending and for saving.  That way you can begin to forecast your financial future.

Finally I strongly suggest that you banish all thoughts of homelessness and shoe house living from your mind.  So many people panic after receiving notice of foreclosure from the bank or courthouse.  At that very moment they become stuck like a “deer standing on a country road frozen and transfixed by approaching headlights.”

I have found over and over again that fear strikes at the heart of most who are facing foreclosure and prevents them from doing research to understand foreclosure, talking to their bank or lender, or even taking bold, clear decisive action to solve their economic problems.

In want to take a moment to encourage you if are facing foreclosure.  I am working daily to make this blog a place for you to get information, knowledge and understanding.  In a short time I’ll be launching my Ultimate Stop Foreclosure Package.  It will be free and it will provide you with a wealth of resources.

Talk to you then,
